We all had a great time duirng to SuperNova conference and I got to contribute one of the things that I'm pretty good at - ordering for everyone.

Monday night - it was a rauceous affair for 40 (I simply ordered 10 dishes and asked for 4 of each) - while Tuesday evening - it was a more intimate group of 4 (Doc, Sifry, Euan and me) and since it was Tapas - we got to snack on about 10 small dishes.

Needless to say my secret weapon is that you have to create a balanced meal - a little bit of this, a little bit of that - red meat, chicken, fish, shrimp - noodles, veggies, appetizers.  There's always infinite possibilities at a Chinese place.  Some spicey, some salt & pepper, some Mu Shu - maybe even some braised tofu or eggplant with garlic.

But Doc and I (and Sifry it turns out) couldn't eat any of the noodles or rice :-)

And at Timos - one of my favorite Tapas places (on Valencia - between 19th & 20th) - you HAVE to try out the Romesco sauce!

TURNER COMPARES HIS EMPIRE COLLAPSE TO WORLD TRADE TOWERS

AOLTIMEWARNER vice chairman Ted Turner has opened his mouth again, this time on Wednesday at a news conference in New York City where he compared the fall of his business empire to the collapse of the World Trade Center.

"I went from no money to a pile of money, just as big as the World Trade Center. Then -- just like the World Trade Center -- poof, it was gone. Overnight."

Turner laughed as he delivered those words.

Turner also made extensive comments on the 'War on Terror', praising George Bush for including the United Nations in the process:

"To its everlasting credit, the Bush administration has realized how important the United Nations is to the war on terrorism. We can't fight the war on terrorism by ourselves. No matter what happens anywhere, having the U.N. involved helps a lot."

Turner also took a stab at the roots of terrorism:

"There's a lot of despair out there. Despair and poverty... these breed anger. And, I think, that's one of the reasons terrorism exists. There's so much frustration, anger, and despair.

"In the Arab view, America doesn't do enough to help them and that's why they're so angry at it," he said. "The battle against terrorism is a battle against poverty and injustice. People are willing to die when they don't have anything to live for."

Ted Turner was speaking at the event to celebrate the five year anniversary of his $1 billion pledge to support the United Nations Foundation.

Reverse cowgirl finds out how real "tv reality" is. [Adam Curry: Adam Curry's Weblog]

I not only find the Reverse Cowgirl's Blog entertaining and engaging, but it's fascinating to look behind the scenes at the production of a 'so-called' reality show, which Adam (and his family) is also going through.  I myself produced The Marc Canter Show for a few years.

[Joi Ito's Web]

Joi did a whirlwind trip - schmoozing, partying and grokking to his heart's content.  We did dim sum (with Brester Kahle), a conference and more then a few engaging conversations about what we're up to.  Joi also has a fotolog set up now.

Our virtual interacting will be greatly enhanced by our meatspace interaction.

Supernova redux

Just back from Kevin Werbach's Supernova conference. Here are my notes. Also blogging the event: Doc Searls; Dave Winer; David Weinberger; Phil Wolff; Glenn Fleishman; David Sifry; Cory Doctorow; Dan Gillmor; Michael Helfrich; Ross Mayfield; Stewart Henshall; and the Supernova blog created by the folks who were there.

[RatcliffeBlog: Business, Technology & Investing]

It was QUITE a conference.  By far the best conference I've attended in years - perhaps in 10 years.  Not only did I get to meet lots of cool people, but the discussions were relevant, I learned allot and got to put in my own 2 cents.

Hats off to Kevin for making this all happen!

Lots of rich, meaty stuff will be coming out from this over the next few days.

Google links day: google timeline. [Paolo Valdemarin: Paolo's Weblog]

Tmelines are a great viewpoint on data.  It worked in VideoWorks, MusicWorks, Director, Premiere and Flash.  Even Final Cut and iMovie (in fact ALL media editors.)

As Dave said yesterday at the SuperNova conference - everything is an outline.  So that's a great viewpoint as well.

But so are:

    - slide shows and slide sorters
    - wiring kits
    - storyboards
    - lists (good old EDLs)

Expect all these viewpoints in our products.

Alan Kay used to say: "with every new viewpiont, comes 10 more IQ points."
