Joi the Japanese Internet star ?. Joi in the USA today and the same article in about 50 other sources. Great PR, Joi ! Just imagine if a blogger did like this journalist, posting the same story to 50 different weblogs, I guess he would be... [Loic Le Meur Blog]

Back from the grill-out
Well, it's been and interesting day. I drove over to Marc Canter's abode after getting an invite last week. Marc, his wife, and kids are all charming and very cool people. I spent some time talking with various folks who made up the panoply of guests, and managed to hide the potato salad I'd brought :)
I'm starting a new job next week at 1up.com. I'm very excited and hope to use this as a way to turn around my life in some ways. I have always wanted to get into a fiel related to gaming, while still using my web skills. It's not often that you find your "dream job" I'm getting prepared to do some hard work to make this site not only outstanding, but "insanely great".
Later on I took the wife and kids to see Shrek 2 for the 2nd time. I must say I enjoyed it more than the first time, and I found myself looking in the backgrounds and scenery for hidden items. If you havent seen Shrek 2, I highly recommend it. [Andrew Wooldridge Dot Com]
OK - the truth can be told now. I promised my friend Ami Sun that she would have the ONLY potato salad at the BBQ.
So Imagine (to my horror) when Andrew shows up with this HUGE bucket of potatoe salad (I guess I forgot to tell him!) Not wishing to completely bum out Ami - sure - yes I'll admit it - I hid Andrew's salad. Sorry Andrew!
Blogware is blogware is blogware.... Marc Canter: "Well dude - get a clue. The term Blogware also refers to the product from Tucows."
Dude - its a service, not a product ;-) [Random Bytes]
OK so when is a subscription service a product?
Good point.
I say that if you think of the service in your head as something you bought (or continue to buy), as a piece of software you use or as something that provides you desired functionality - all of these memes meme product.
It's pure semantics (and no I don't mean the semantic web) - but I will continue to call subscription based software products - 'cause I'm a product kind of guy.
Yah sure - I'm a service kind of guy too, but that brings up connotations that go WAY beyond what we're willing to do for a buck. THAT kind of servicing is supposed to be provided by the community. :-)
Too cute for words
This shot is entitled "No - Mine!"

The next photo features Zoe, Mimi and Elizabeth Friedwald-Jones.
I think I'll call it "Excursion" - as they were about to start a journey around the neighborhood.

One of the benefits of working with a bunch of videoegame folk - is free videogames. Just so you know, I would NEVER buy my son (Jacob) a copy of the Rocky videogame - but heh - who's gonna refuse a gift. Right?
So here's Jacob, too lazy to get out of bed, playing his new game.
They were literally rolling the old hippies (Baba Ram Das) around in wheelchairs athe 13th Digital Be-In on Saturday night.
I was there to talk about DLAs, and in typical fashion someone didn't show up, so they moved me up the schedule - which of course then meant that none of the people who came to hear me - could - as they thought I was coming on later.
The EFF, Creative Commons and danah boyd were there - too.
Well God Bless Michael Gosney anyway. I got to see some old friends - such as Tony Bove (otherwise known as T-Bone) - pictured to the right, along with Brad DeGraf.
Brad's been working on the Media Venture Collective - which is an org to help kids to upload their video work onto the web.
