Marc's Voice Free Media ManagementHere is a collection of all the posts, comments and charts - that are part of the proposal I made for an free media management system: 1st proposal Asset Manager & Media Management2nd - Official proposal Proposal for Free (open source) Media Management servers3rd - Clarification Benefits of a standard Media Management object model4th - Feedback/response to question: Virtual File versus Media Management5th - The need for sophisticated inter-connections, not just HTTP posts
[Namechange note: Avid has an Open Media Management 'standard' that they proposed back in 1998. I'm still researching it - but it's a conflict with this name - so I renamed it the Free Media Management standard - is honor of Richard Stallman.] [Here's an interesting white paper on open media management - from the big-systems - SAN (Storage Area networks perspective. Not clear if they're specifically referring to Avid's standard - or not.] [Apparently Avid's efforts have been productized in their MediaManager product - which is part of the Avid Media Server product. BTW They also have a product called MediaBrowse. I just hope they don't go after MediaBar or MediaBand :-)] [While we're at it - there's also the usage of the term open media management - with a bunch of SAN oriented products, one of them from a company called Comparex.] |
